The Mercer Island Islanders girls track team improved their overall record to 4-0 courtesy of a 89-56 win against Interlake and a 91-58 victory against the Redmond Mustangs in a KingCo 3A/2A double dual on March 29 on Mercer Island.
The Mercer Island boys squad lost to Interlake 76-69 and were defeated by Redmond 98-57. Islanders’ girls athletes capturing first place in their respective events consisted of Maya Virdell (100 meters, 1600 meter-relay), Gretchen Blohm (200 meters, 800 meter-relay), Kayla Lee (400 meters, 800 meter-relay, 1600 meter-relay), Katie McCormick (100 meter hurdles), Ella Hensey (800 meter-relay, 1600 meter-relay), Eliza Crenshaw (800 meter-relay), Margaret Baker (1600 meter-relay), Faith Osei-Tutu (shot-put, javelin) and Susanna Lepow (pole vault). Islanders’ boys athletes earning first place in their events were Colin Farrell (100 meters, 200 meters), Jack Clayville (110 hurdles), Mitchell Kirby (300 hurdles), Eli Yen (discus) and Jeffery Tian (pole vault). Yian (pictured) competes in the 110 hurdles in a double dual against the Interlake Saints and Redmond Mustangs on March 29.
