All too often, we take our police and fire personnel for granted. Subconsciously, we know they risk their lives daily to keep us safe and secure. It’s not until a tragedy — such as the recent police murders — that we realize how important these men and women are and how dangerous their jobs can be.

During this holiday season and throughout the year, please join me in thanking each and every one of these individuals when you see them on the street.

They deserve our utmost appreciation and respect.
