Andy Nystrom has joined the Mercer Island Reporter staff, replacing Blake Peterson, who has taken his reporting and writing skills to 425 Magazine.
Nystrom started his journalism career in 1990, at the Los Altos Town Crier in northern California. He previously worked for Sound Publishing papers as sports editor for its seven Eastside publications, editor of the Redmond and Bothell-Kenmore Reporters and sports and business reporter for several papers.
He is an award-winning writer and photographer, has written for music publications, and was the Sports Ticker reporter for the former Seattle Reign American Basketball League women’s team.
“I get a thrill out of writing, editing, taking photos and whatever else falls into my domain. Meeting people and building relationships is a vital aspect of my job and life, and that’s something I hope to continue doing each day,” said Nystrom, a San Jose State University graduate.
