The Friends of the Mercer Island Library will be holding its final pop-up book sales at the former Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce site on Thursdays (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Fridays (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Saturdays (noon to 5 p.m.) starting Oct. 15 and ending Oct. 24. The friends will be offering books at $5 a bag (grocery) at 7605 SE 27th St. Unit #109. They have been holding pop-up sales at that site since Sept. 10, a brainstorm of Suzanne Plambeck and Jim Eanes, and the space was donated by Ken Dayton. The time has come for the owner of the location to prepare the space for its next tenant and all books have to go. All the books for sale have been donated by Islanders. There are books on just about any topic and were on sale for $2 or less and coffee table books for $4. All proceeds go to the Friends of the Mercer Island Library and are used to fund library programs. Courtesy photo
