The annual fall Meds Take-Back Day will occur from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at the loading dock on the west side of City Hall (9611 SE 36th St.).
This nationwide one-day event provides residents with a free, anonymous collection of unwanted and expired medicines. Both prescription and over-the-counter medications are accepted.
Participants must wear a mask while using the drive-through arrangement and stay inside their vehicle.
According to a city press release, “You can protect kids, families and the environment by properly disposing of your unwanted and expired medicines. Medicines in the home are a leading cause of accidental child poisoning and flushed or trashed medicines can end up polluting our waters. Rates of prescription drug abuse are alarmingly high: over half of teens abusing medicines get them from a family member or friend, or the home medicine cabinet.”
