The Rotary Club of Mercer Island will welcome speaker Steve Williams, board member of the Newcastle Historical Society, from 12:45-1:30 p.m. Dec. 1. People can join the presentation on Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/4096976967.

Williams will discuss “The Coals of Newcastle – A Hundred Years of Hidden History.”

Williams was the former president of the Issaquah Alps Trails Club, manager of Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park (1985-2005) and caretaker of Luther Burbank Park during the first 10 years of development (1974-1984). He is also a researcher and chapter author in local history books.
