Erica Hill has been selected as a new associate principal at Mercer Island High School (MIHS). The announcement was made by Mercer Island School District Superintendent Donna Colosky and MIHS Principal Walter Kelly, and the appointment is subject to approval by the Mercer Island School Board.
Hill will be returning to MIHS, where she taught English for 17 years and served as an interim associate principal and athletic director. She also served as head cross country and track and field coach for the Islanders, and was honored six times as KingoCo conference coach of the year.
“It is with great excitement that I rejoin the Mercer Island community,” Hill said. “Mercer Island High School is the foundation of my educational career. I am eager to return to my roots and share the valuable experience that I have gained in my four years away. I look forward to growing my leadership and collaborating with the strong MIHS admin team to make MIHS a positive and inclusive learning and growth experience for all students, staff and families.”
Hill currently serves as associate principal at Inglemoor High School in the Northshore School District, where she has focused on inclusivity for all students, started a student voice group to teach anti-racism to staff and students and served on the district equity team.
“Erica Hill has already made a lasting and positive impact at Mercer Island High School as a former paraeducator, English teacher, and coach,” said Kelly. “Erica clearly has a reputation and history of establishing meaningful relationships with students, families, and staff. Her work to include all students and all voices in a community compliment our ongoing work at MIHS, and we are fortunate to welcome her back to our school.”
