Anne Tower Edmonds died on August 10, 2021. She was always surrounded by a wide and deep circle of friends and family. While she suffered from Alzheimer’s at the end of her life, she never lost her sense of joy and her wide smile, and she knew how to make others feel warm and welcome through her very last days.

She was born in Portchester, New York on March 2, 1932. After graduating from Wells College, she received her Masters in Education and taught for 3 years in Pelham, NY. She met and married John Edmonds and they moved to Seattle in 1956. They lived on Mercer Island, then in Issaquah together until John died in 2011. She taught first and third grades at Epiphany School in Seattle for 15 years.

She is survived by her sons David of Newcastle, WA and Bill and his wife Holly of Portland, OR; her dear sister Jane Frey – her confident and forever friend – and Jane’s husband Charlie Frey of Res- cue, CA; and her six grandchildren Pam, Sarah, Hannah, Peter, Chris, and Drew.

Anne was a long-time member of the Con- gregational Church of Mercer Island as well as a member of an Arboretum group and the Woman’s University Club. A favorite activity was being a member of a MI book club that started in 1965 – and is still going strong! She loved travel and particularly enjoyed her trips to France and New Zealand. To help others avoid the dental work she sat through, she proudly helped get fluoridation passed in Seattle.

Her boys say their mom gave them the most im- portant gift they could have which was to be loved unconditionally – and they hope they can do the same for others. Her friends say Anne made each of them feel special in some way and it is this ability that made so many want to be by her side.
