I want to commend Laurie Givan for her directorship of the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce. She has been untiring in aiding Island businesses.

When the pandemic started, she was instrumental in working with the County in an initial distribution of masks and disinfectant. Later she helped our many small businesses actually fill out the cumbersome applications for government funds. Before all that, she helped elevate Art Uncorked into a immensely popular event involving not only wineries and our own local art scene but also many of our small businesses.

She was instrumental in furthering the annual afternoon trick or treating among Island businesses. All this plus keeping in contact with neighboring Chambers and attending MI City Council meetings. Being a small business in a small community is hard.
