Mercer Island’s Bendrick plays strong in USGA tournament

Mercer Island’s Jacqueline Bendrick takes a shot during her 1 up victory over Stephanie Gelleni of Venezuela in a Round of 32 match on Sept. 28 in the 34th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Berkeley Hall Club in Bluffton, South Carolina. Later that day, 2015 champion Lauren Greenlief of the United States defeated Bendrick 2 up in a Round of 16 match. After qualifying for the Round of 64 in stroke play, Bendrick beat Julia Potter-Bobb of the United States, 5 and 3, to advance.
