A police officer arrested a driver for driving under the influence after nearly hitting a pedestrian in a crosswalk in the 5300 block of Island Crest Way at around 10:51 a.m. on Nov. 11.
Additional charges of reckless endangerment are being considered, according to a report on the Mercer Island Police Department Facebook page.
The pedestrian utilized the crossing signal and entered the sidewalk once it began flashing, but had to stop suddenly to avoid being hit when the southbound vehicle drove through the crosswalk.
Police are trying to locate the pedestrian for their investigation. If anyone has information, they can call the police non-emergency line at 425-577-5656.
