City council goes hybrid with latest meeting

When the Mercer Island City Council’s March 15 meeting began, four members were sitting at the dais in the council chambers for the first time in two years due to the pandemic. In the hybrid meeting, pictured from left to right are Jake Jacobson, Deputy Mayor David Rosenbaum, Mayor Salim Nice and Ted Weinberg. Other councilmembers Wendy Weiker, Lisa Anderl and Craig Reynolds joined remotely along with staff members and consultants. Some residents addressed council during the appearances segment in person and remotely with their testimonies. The next council hybrid meeting will occur at 5 p.m. on April 5. “We will continue to use the hybrid technology for the foreseeable future,” said City Manager Jessi Bon during her March 15 report.
