Trashing election signs

Neighbors and Friends: We are coming to the last nine weeks of what many of us would agree is a waytoo-long election season. All signs point to an even more heated and emotional run-up to election day. I think it is important to remind ourselves and our kids that we may disagree with our friends’ and neighbors’ political opinions, but it is of utmost important that we respect those opinions. We are friends and neighbors, we live together and we all care about the future of our country, our state, our county and our city. And let’s remind each other and our kids that if any of us cares to display our opinions with yard signs, that is our right. And especially if those signs are on our property — that is private property and stealing those signs is theft, which is against the law. I would say that the signs on public property should also be respected and not defaced and stolen, as I have noticed some have been lately. I don’t know the law about that, but I imagine there is one.
