Lefty pitcher Matthew Boyd, who grew up on Mercer Island, was traded to the Seattle Mariners from the San Francisco Giants on Aug. 2, according to a post on the M’s Twitter. Boyd, who played for Eastside Catholic during his high school years, was part of a trade that included Giants catcher Curt Casali and Mariner minor league pitcher Michael Stryffler and catcher Andy Thomas.
“Coming home! Let’s do this!” Boyd exclaimed in a Twitter post.
According to mlb.com, the Mariners also acquired Dodgers infielder/outfielder Jake Lamb for cash considerations or a player to be named later.
