Rotary Islanders of November

The Mercer Island Rotary has named Mercer Island High School students Lauren Prince and Will Voit as the “Islanders of the Month” for November.

Prince is the co-editor-in-chief of the Mercer Island High School newspaper, The Islander, a National Honor Society member, percussionist in the band, Senior Service Club member and Bridges leader. In the community, she is the youth president of the MI Youth & Family Services Advisory Board, a Safe Rides driver and youth board member, and she participates on the executive committee of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life as the Luminaria Ceremony chair. She also volunteered for six weeks in rural Panama with Amigos de las Americas. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing. The daughter of Judith and Steven Prince, she plans to study abroad and pursue international relations and psychology in college.

Voit is a drum major in the MIHS band, ASB business manager, captain of the boys varsity swim and dive team, a member of the MIHS technology staff, Bridges leader, Senior Service Club president, National Honor Society member and MIHS Wind Ensemble member. In the community, he is an American Cancer Society Relay for Life chair, Washington Aerospace scholar, SafeRides Board member and Mercer Island Presbyterian Church student leader with MIPC high school ministries. He has also participated in Homes Without Borders’ Tijuana House Building, Iglesia Cumbres church building in Tijuana, and the Expedition Inspiration Breast Cancer Fundraiser. In his spare time, he manages his own information technologies company, Goodwill Computing; reads, hikes and backpacks, downhill skis, scuba dives and boats. He plans to study computer science and engineering at a four-year college.
