With snow and ice blanketing Mercer Island, City Hall and most city facilities (including the Community and Event Center and Thrift Shop) are closing early today.

That accumulation has caused wet roads to become ultra slick, and crews are actively working to sand, plow and de-ice streets.

The city asks residents to remain home unless they need to drive somewhere, and if so, they should leave extra distance when traveling.
