Mercer Island’s Stroum Jewish Community Center (SJCC) has announced the full lineup of films for the 28th Seattle Jewish Film Festival, running March 11-26. The festival offers in-person and virtual programs, community conversations and special events featuring food, music and guests.

“This year’s Seattle Jewish Film Festival is what we affectionately call ‘cinemanna’ —- a cinematic feast (like manna from heaven) feeding the minds, souls, palates, and conversations in our film-loving community,” said Pamela Lavitt, director of SJCC Arts + Ideas and Festivals. “We are thrilled that local Eisner-Award-winning cartoonist, author, and graphic designer David Lasky created this year’s festival artwork imbued with the concept of ‘cinemanna’ with Moses parting the ‘red curtains,’ both symbolic of how cinema and the festival transport filmgoers out of the pandemic wilderness and a cultural desert back into community forging togetherness again.”

The festival features 21 film programs from around the world, including Spain, Israel, Switzerland, Australia, Belgium, Poland, France, Italy and more. In-person screenings take place at SJCC and AMC Pacific Place, with a short film program encore free to students at the University of Washington following the festival. Virtual screenings will be released each Monday of the festival (March 13 and 20). All virtual screenings have a 48-hour viewing window once the film is started, and all virtual programs expire on March 26.
