Islanders win national judo titles

Northwood Elementary School student Mikhail Zulaev won a pair of titles at the USA JUDO Youth National Championships from March 18-19 in Lubbock, Texas. Mikhail, who trains at the Washington Judo Academy, won the Bantam 4 male/under 30 kg and the Bantam 5 male/under 29 kg divisions. Islander Jayne Loo of the Budokan Judo Dojo-Japanese Cultural & Community Center of Washington placed first in the IJF junior female/under 48 kg division.
