Cleaning up Rotary Park

Rotary Club of Mercer Island members spent two hours on April 26 cleaning up Rotary Park. Seven Rotarians raked and weeded, then spread six cubic yards of bark dust mulch around trees. They also cleaned up the flower beds by the Rotary Park sign. The city’s parks department brought a truckload of mulch and provided wheelbarrows, rakes, hand tools and gloves, plus water and snacks. The Rotary Club’s parks committee members previously had removed ivy and blackberries at the park. They plan to do more such cleanup events in the future at this and other Island parks. Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self,” and the club invites and welcomes new members. For more information, visit mirotary.org.
