Theft: A resident in the 9300 block of Southeast 46th Street reported that someone stole her mailbox key and cell phone on her mailbox outside her residence.
June 1
Malicious mischief: A resident in the 7600 block of Southeast 27th Street originally reported that she believed a subject had smashed her car window during an attempted vehicle break-in. The caller later believed that her car window was unintentionally cracked.
Burglary: A resident in the 3200 block of Shorewood Drive reported that someone broke into their storage unit and swiped various pieces of sporting equipment.

Fore!: Going undercover, Mercer Island Police Department detectives met up with a stolen golf-cart seller in Seattle after being apprised of a for-sale post on an online marketplace. They towed the cart home to the Island and detectives believe they have sufficient evidence to file felony charges. The department received the information from a resident in the 8400 block of Benotho Place.
Theft: After a 911 caller in the 3000 block of 78th Avenue Southeast witnessed a subject steal his son’s skateboard, officers arrived on the scene and contacted the suspect and retrieved the stolen item. The caller did not wish to pursue charges.
May 23
Arrests: Mercer Island police officers arrested two subjects on the evening of May 23, one suspect for trespassing and the other for felony possession of a stolen vehicle.
Both suspects were apprehended after officers tracked down the white minivan with a broken windshield that they were driving in, a vehicle that officers were on the lookout for following a First Hill trespassing.
According to a police report, after several First Hill residents captured home surveillance footage of an individual trespassing on their property, officers used the footage to pinpoint a primary suspect known to be associated with the minivan. A search warrant was obtained for the minivan and additional evidence was collected.
“Thank you to our community for being invaluable partners in our efforts to solve crime and keep the Island safe,” the report reads.
