Mercer Island fire crews extinguished a dock and boat fire and stabilized the scene on the afternoon of Oct. 23 near the 9000 block of North Mercer Way. No injuries were reported. Crews from Eastside Fire & Rescue (EF&R) and Bellevue Fire provided assistance, and Bellevue fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. According to EF&R, the call came in at 2:31 p.m. and the first unit arrived on scene six minutes later. After crews had the fire under control at 3:06 p.m., they commenced overhaul work and command was terminated at 7:32 p.m. Crews remained on scene for firewatch overnight.
