The 2010 Mercer Island fall recycling event has been scheduled for Oct. 23.

The event allows residents to safely dispose of old equipment and household items cluttering the basement or garage.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mercer Island Boat Launch (3600 E. Mercer Way), bring items to be recycled.

Acceptable items include: electronic/computer equipment (no charge), motor oil, filters and antifreeze, refrigerators/freezers/air conditioners ($25 fee — cash only).

Items which will not be accepted include: fluorescent lights, window glass, solvents and thinners.
