The Rotary Club of Mercer Island has honored Sol Park, Elena Lill, Justin Li and Alexandra Hyman as its Mercer Island High School (MIHS) Students of the Month for November.
The students were nominated for the accolade by some of their teachers and school departments and here’s a rundown of several of their standout qualities:
Park: “He is the current ASB president. He was the head of two big school assemblies aiming to connect our student body with spirit and enthusiasm. With his diligent and positive attitude in Chinese class and countless hours of dedication to his community, we believe that Sol is extremely deserving of this award.”
Hyman: “Alex was an active participant and quality contributor in the classroom. She was willing to consider topics deeply, and she invested in her work and the bettering of her work. She had maturity in approaching sensitive topics.”
Lill: “Elena is one of the drum majors for the MIHS band. She is also an exceptional student in English classes — top notch writing, speaking and thinking. I especially admire her ability to consider issues from multiple perspectives, and her courage in discussion.”
Li: “Justin is an exceptional individual with leadership qualities, dedication, and a passion for making a positive impact. I wholeheartedly recommend him. He is among the best students that I have ever taught both academically and as an interesting, kind, and thoughtful human being.”
