Members from Mercer Island’s Lake Washington and Evergreen chapters of the National Charity League (NCL) spoke at a prospective members meeting on Jan. 16 at Island Books.
The local chapters will be holding their membership drive from now until March 1.
As members of NCL, mothers and their daughters get involved in philanthropic service both on the Island and serving the greater Puget Sound area. The local NCL chapters are accepting members in graduating classes 2030, 2029, 2028, and 2027, space permitting.
Through NCL, girls can spend time with their classmates, choose from more than 30 local philanthropies, and make a difference in the community. Moms meet other mothers during monthly gatherings featuring speakers and events.
“It’s also a rich, rewarding way to spend time with your daughter while helping others,” reads a press release.
Combined, the two chapters provided more than 7,000 hours of service to the community last chapter year.
