Chamber luncheon
The Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce monthly membership luncheon will feature Bob Drewel, the executive director of the Puget Sound Regional Council. He will speak at noon, Jan. 8, at the CCMV. The PSRC, made up of leaders from central Puget Sound counties, cities and key public agencies works to develop policies and make decisions regarding regional issues. Roots of happiness
A talk entitled The Childhood Roots of Adult Happiness will be held at 7 p.m., Jan. 12, in the MIHS Performing Arts Center. Educator Dr. Ned Hallowell will address what matters most in raising children. Sponsors are the Parent Education Committees of Island Park, Lakeridge, West Mercer, Islander Middle, Mercer Island High and St. Monica schools. Winter concert
Off to See the Wizard in Winter Holiday Concert has been rescheduled to 7:30 p.m., Jan. 9, at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church, 3605 84th Ave. S.E. The Emerald City Ringers (ECR), a nonprofit community handbell choir, will perform.
