MILL all-stars compete at district tourneys

This summer, three Mercer Island Little League baseball all-star teams competed at District 9 tournaments and registered a bevy of victories.

The 8/9/10s went 2-2, the 11s went 3-2 and the Majors went 2-2.

Here are the rosters and a rundown from two of the three managers who were contacted:

8/9/10s

Manager Greg Stangel and coaches Andre Marshall and Ralph Grimse. Players: Tyler Bussing, Evan Chin, Charlie Gregory, Ethan Grimse, Carter Hurl, Finn Kingston, Brady Mann, Kellen Marshall, Maverick McLear, Ymir Skulason, Jack Stangel and Elliott Van Winkle.

Manager Stangel: “Our tens team had a positive experience both preparing for the tournament and during the games. It was rewarding to see the development of each player from day 1 to the last tourney game. There is no question that this group of kids ‘leveled up’ this season and we are excited for next year’s tournament.”

11s

Manager Eric Jaffe and coaches Adam Roodman and Brad Stewart. Players: Liam Bar-Joseph, Beckham Cruikshank, Kingston Jaffe, Logan Jones, Kellan Lackland, Grant Matukaitis, Brooks Roodman, Andrew Rudolf, William Schmies, Peter Smith, Kase Stewart and Hayden White.

Manager Jaffe: “Little League all-stars is the highlight of the baseball season and this year we had a nice run at the District 9 tournament. The kids played so well and really developed.”

Majors

Manager Erik Viafore and coaches Stephan Banchero and Steven Sun. Players: Jakob Bachleda, John Banchero, Carson Bloom, Cash Coochise, Laign Magee, Charlie Miller, Tucker Pierce, Cal Robinson, Connor Sun, Ise Tsunoda, Nicholas Viafore and Lucas White.
