On Aug. 7, members of the Mercer Island community came together in the community center parking lot to explore the new Hopelink Mobile Food Market and learn about the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services (YFS) food security programs. Hosted by the Mercer Island YFS Foundation, the event provided residents with a firsthand look at the latest developments in YFS food assistance, including a tour of the truck and information on accessing food resources. The event featured a fun and engaging Bingo game designed to highlight the realities of hunger in our region and the new YFS/Hopelink partnership. Participants also had the opportunity to ask a lot of questions in order to get a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those dealing with food insecurity and find out how to get involved.
