St. Monica runners shine at championships

St. Monica Catholic School’s fourth-grader Lily Augustine (left) notched first place in the girls 1.1-mile race with a time of 7:35.15 at the Catholic Youth Organization cross country championships on Oct. 6 at Woodland Park in Seattle. Also for St. Monica of Mercer Island, kindergartner Michael Buhrmann (right) placed second in the boys 0.4-miler in 3:13.73; fourth-grader James Donaldson took ninth in the boys 1.1-miler in 7:48.35; kindergartner Myra Yau placed 10th in the girls 0.4-miler in 3:43.62; and sixth-grader Navid Nygaard took 20th in the boys 1.25-miler in 9:02.12.
