Friendship Circle of Washington hosted an “October 7th Memorial Ceremony & Challah Bake” on Oct. 8 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center. “This event is part of Friendship Circle’s campaign to do good deeds (Mitzvahs) in the memory of those who were tragically murdered one year ago,” reads a press release regarding Hamas’ attack on Israel. The event featured candle lighting, prayers for the return of the hostages, and the sharing of stories of resilience. Participants baked 50 challahs, each of which will go to families of community members. Program director Esther Bogomilsky said, “This challah bake will be a tangible way for everyone to commemorate the lives lost and do good deeds in their memory.” Courtesy photos
