Oct. 21

Theft: Officers trespassed individuals from a business after they were spotted stealing bottles of alcohol from the shop in the 7800 block of Southeast 28th Street.

Oct. 20

Theft: In the 3000 block of 78th Avenue Southeast, officers contacted shoplifters and transported them to jail on several outstanding warrants.

Oct. 19

Vehicle prowl: After breaking into a vehicle overnight in the 3800 block of 82nd Avenue Southeast, the prowler stole a duffel bag containing personal items and work laptops. Mercer Island Police Department offered the following tip for residents: “As we enter the holiday season, we expect to see more opportunistic vehicle and porch prowling. Islanders are encouraged to never leave valuables inside their vehicle, even if it is locked.”

Oct. 18

Theft: Officers contacted a shoplifter and transported the person to jail in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue Southeast.

Egging: A resident in the 8300 block of East Mercer Way reported that someone egged their house.

Fraud: A resident in the 2700 block of 76th Avenue Southeast immediately informed 911 that she received a scam phone call from someone claiming that the Islander missed a court date and would soon be arrested. The dispatcher and responding officer reassured the Islander that this was a common scam.

Oct. 16

Theft: Several individuals were spotted shoplifting items at a store in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue Southeast.

Oct. 15

Theft: Someone witnessed a shoplifter swiping skincare items from a business in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue Southeast. Officers located the shoplifter at the Park and Ride, arrested him and transported him to jail.
