Friends of Mercer Island Library to hold book sale

Dickens Carolers will perform on Dec. 2 and 9.

The Friends of Mercer Island Library will hold its annual holiday book sale on Nov. 30, Dec. 1-2 and Dec. 4 at the local library at 4400 88th Ave. SE.

The sale will feature more than 1,000 books on a variety of subjects as well as CDs, DVDs and puzzles. The sale will be held during library hours: From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1; from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 2; and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 4.

Funds raised by The Friends are used to sponsor a variety of events and programs for the MI branch of the King County Library System (KCLS), such as author appearances, children’s story times, teen discussions, opera appreciation and more.

“Your book donations make our sales possible. Please remember us when you have gently used books to donate. Donations are welcomed all year round, but especially now for this sale,” said The Friends in a press release, adding that they support library events by purchasing special equipment needed for the functions.

As a special added treat, The Friends and KCLS will provide Christmas carol concerts by the Dickens Carolers from noon to 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9 at the MI library.
