Police Blotter | Islanders report several cases of theft

Reports of trespassing, identity theft, vehicle prowling and stolen mail

September 3

Fraud/Identity Theft: A 25-year-old woman reported that her credit card was used in Europe for a $1490 cash withdrawal.

September 9

Theft: A 51-year-old woman reported that payroll checks/documents and two boxes of business supplies shipped from Amazon were stolen from her mailbox on Fernbrook Drive.

September 10

Thefts: Two vehicle prowling and theft incidents were reported on the 8200 block of S.E. 24th St. In one report, a 54-year-old male found that his rear passenger side window was shattered and his gym bag and clothes were stolen. In another report, a 54-year-old female’s purse, gym bag, iPhone and other electronics were stolen and her rear passenger window was also shattered. Police collected evidence from security cameras, but no arrests have been made yet.

September 11

Trespassing: A 56-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of trespassing at West Mercer Elementary. He had been charged with trespassing at Country Village Day School on Aug. 11. He claimed he didn’t know that he had been banned from all Mercer Island School District properties, according to police. He was later booked into Issaquah City Jail.

September 14

Found: Police found an unoccupied vehicle in the Luther Burbank Park parking lot. DOL checks revealed that the vehicle was stolen out of Kent and was displaying stolen plates out of Bellevue. The vehicle was reunited with its registered owner, a 32-year-old male who identified several items in the vehicle that were not his. The items were entered into evidence for latent prints, and the plates were recovered as stolen property. No suspects have been identified.

September 15

Theft: A 49-year-old male reported that an air compressor and a spider electrical box were stolen from a construction job site on Holly Hill Drive. The tools are valued at $700.

September 16

Prowling: A 63-year-old male reported that he observed somebody trying to gain access to a dark colored car parked next to his locked vehicle on the 8000 block of S.E. 36th St. The driver’s door was found to be unlocked, but nothing appeared to be stolen or damaged.
