An international expert and a local doctor will be hosting a free seminar on Thursday in Bellevue to introduce people to medical Qigong and how it can be used to manage chronic pain and illness.
The practice is apart of traditional Chinese medicine which believes that good health results from a well-balanced and harmonized condition of the internal body, with Qi flowing freely.
Dr. Guan-Cheng Sun, who recently published a journal article showing the positive medical effects of Qigong, will go over the basics with participants Thursday, Oct. 7 at the Eastside Baha’i Center (located at 16007 N.E. 8th Street in Bellevue) from 7 to 9 p.m.
Sun is the founder of the Insitute of Qigong and Internal Alternative Medicine. He earned his Ph.D in molecular genetics from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies in Japan in 1993, and conducted research in molecular endocrinology at the University of Washington. He is currently doing medical research at Bastyr University.
