MISD releases 2010-2011 school calendar

The Mercer Island School District has released the school calendar for 2010-2011. For the first time in years, students will head back to school prior to Labor Day, with the first day of classes on Aug. 31.

The Mercer Island School District has released the school calendar for 2010-2011. For the first time in years, students will head back to school prior to Labor Day, with the first day of classes on Aug. 31.

Under the latest round of budget cuts, the district will have only one Learning Improvement Day for staff training at each school level. The elementary LID days will be Nov. 12, while Islander Middle School will be closed to students on Nov. 24. Mercer Island High School will have its LID day on Jan. 24.

This year’s winter break will be Dec. 20-31, and mid-winter break will be Feb. 21-22. The districtwide spring break will be April 4-8, and the last day of school for students is June 15.
