Wrestlers take fifth at Decatur Invitational

The Mercer Island wrestling team took fifth place last week at the Decatur Invitational, held at Jefferson High School in Auburn, Wash. Team scores: Graham-Kapowsin, 206; Auburn Mountainview, 155.5; Decatur, 119.5; Kent-Meridian, 119.5; Mercer Island, 101; Kentridge, 94.5; Aberdeen, 79; Jefferson, 77; Skyline, 71; Kentlake, 64; Foss, 46.5; Redmond, 33; Evergreen, 30; Nathan Hale, 14; Tyee, 11; Ingraham, 0.

Two Islanders wrestled in championship matches. Knebel Colton took first in his weight division (215), defeating Thomas Reinhart of Kent-Meridian, 4-0. His teammate, TJ Blackburn, also took first in his division (275) in a closely contended match by decision (6-5) with Tyler Black, of Redmond, taking second, 6-5.
