Police

A 56-year-old father is under investigation for the assault of his young son at his Island home the morning of May 11. According to the incident report, the 10-year-old boy was dragged into the home by his wrist, knocked down a flight of stairs, kicked and had his head banged into a couch. Police received a call from a Bellevue woman, who reported the incident after hearing the boy’s story and saw his injuries. The case was forwarded to Child Protective Services.

Child abuse

In another incident, an Island man was arrested for hitting his 14-year-old son while at the library around 5 p.m., May 14. According to the police report, patrons of the library witnessed the 45-year-old man hit his son with closed fists.

Prom night bust

A loud party composed mostly of teenagers in the 7400 block of 81st Place S.E. was busted by police between 12:45 and 4:50 a.m., May 11. According to the incident report, police responded to a call about loud noise coming from a garage, obtained a search warrant for the property and later cited 23 minors and adult homeowners for liquor violations. A 47-year-old man was arrested and cited for furnishing alcohol to the minors.

Mischief

A rock was thrown through the window of a home in the 4000 block of 89th Avenue S.E. between 10 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., May 15.

Multiple street signs were spray-painted on the night of May 11.

Arrests

Two Seattle men were arrested by the Island’s marine patrol while water skiing near Medina on the afternoon of May 15. According to the incident report, police stopped the boat for violating water ski laws and found that the driver had been drinking and another had an arrest warrant.

A 25-year-old Bellevue man was arrested for driving under the influence after police stopped him for speeding along I-90 around 1:30 a.m., May 15.

Bellevue police arrested two 20-year-old Island residents, each with warrants, and transferred them into Island police custody around 9:30 p.m., May 14.

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy from Everett for driving without a license and failing to obey police orders on the evening of May 13. According to the incident report, the young man was stopped for speeding in the 5000 block of Island Crest Way, given a ticket for driving without a license and ordered to keep the car parked until a licensed driver could pick him up. However, officers observed the same boy driving the car further down Island Crest Way shortly after, and they made the arrest.

Auto accidents

A hit and run occurred in the intersection of North Mercer Way and 72nd Avenue S.E. around 1 a.m., May 11. According to the incident report, a dark colored, full-size pickup truck fled the scene after rear-ending a 19-year-old driver from Renton who was heading westbound on North Mercer. After it was hit, the young man’s vehicle was pushed onto the roadside and the airbags were deployed.

A 45-year-old Bellevue woman crashed her minivan into a street light in the 8000 block of S.E. 27th Street around 12:25 p.m., May 10. According to the accident report, the woman was turning right onto 27th from 80th Avenue S.E. when she noticed her bouquet of flowers tipping over. When she reached for them, she turned the wheel and drove the car into a street light.

Theft

Two sandwich board signs were stolen from Cellar 46 between 9 a.m. and 5:50 p.m., May 9. According to the incident report, the business owner put the two signs out that morning in the 7600 block of S.E. 27th Street and noticed one missing around noon and the other around 5:30 p.m.

Burglary

Despite recently changing all the locks to the exterior doors of the Mary Wayte Pool, an intruder entered through the chemical room — which did not get a new lock — and kicked through a wall into the main pool area sometime between the afternoon of May 6 and the evening of May 9. Nothing appeared to have been disturbed or missing.
