Drinking, Drugs & Social Media: A Parent Primer

Author of Sex, Drugs 'N Facebook will present about internet safety for adults who care for youth.

Dr. Megan Moreno, a pediatrician at Seattle Children’s Hospital and researcher at the Center for Child Health Behavior and Development at the UW, will give her presentation Drinking, Drugs & Social Media: A Parent Primer Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the Mercer Island Community and Events Center, 8236 SE 24th St, from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Admission is free.

Dr. Moreno’s is the author of Sex, Drugs ‘N Facebook, designed to provide guidance to internet safety for adults who care for youth. Her presentation will focus on teen social media norms involving alcohol and drugs and parenting tips for dealing with adolescent social media use. She leads a team that has conducted more than 30 studies during the last six years on social media and teen health. Dr. Moreno and her research team have served as experts in the field of youth and social media use both nationally and internationally. They have also published the largest body of work to date regarding pediatric health and Facebook.
