A fall bounty of giant pumpkins and tall cornstalks adorn the entrance to the Roanoke Inn Tavern on Mercer Island, Monday. The Roanoke proprietor, Dorothy Reeck, grew the giant vegetables in an adjacent garden plot, with the largest pumpkin in excess of 425 pounds and cornstalks 10 feet tall. The big squash required five men to move it from the garden to the Inn’s walkway.
