Mercer Island resident Shea Wojchiehowski has earned a second trip to the 3A state tennis tournament after finishing in third place in the SeaKing District tournament on Wednesday, May 15.
The Mercer Island ECBA eighth grade team ICE, recently traveled to Spokane for the Warehouse May Madness tournament. The team finished first overall.
The Mercer Island faspitch team’s historic season came to a close on Thursday, May 16 when the team lost to Bainbridge in the SeaKing district tournament.

The Mercer Island girls lacrosse team knew it had a challenge facing it in the state semifinals, going up against one of the only two teams the Islanders had lost to this season. Mercer Island faced off against Lakeside on Tuesday, May 14, falling 14-6 to end the season.
A small piece of the Mercer Island School District bond, which failed in 2012, included rebuilding the Mercer Island High School press box and concessions stand. Despite the bond’s failure, MISD has been looking for a way to rebuild it anyway, due to structural and safety issues.
