The Mercer Island School District is awaiting the March revenue forecast from the state to get a better idea of just how big its budget cuts next year are going to be. What the district and school leaders statewide know for sure: expect less state money.
Scientific curiosity peaked last week in local elementary schools when students showcased their projects during the annual science fair. Third-grade students at Lakeridge Elementary celebrated Native American culture during a potlatch held last Wednesday. The third graders recently finished studying Native American tribes and traditions in the area, a unit that included visits from Roger Fernandes, a local artist and member of the Klallam tribe.
