I was delighted to read the article in the Nov. 23 Reporter about the work of Brandon Hill, a Mercer Island High School student who is passionate about promoting art and arts activities for Island children and youth. I’m particularly appreciative of his focus on doing art as well as displaying art.
As a practicing artist (professional storyteller) and arts instructor (teaching storytelling to children, graduate students and teachers), I enthusiastically support his new venture and encourage Island families to take note of and participate in his new initiatives. His Holiday Art Workshop at the Mercer Island Community Center on Dec. 10 will give K-8 students the opportunity to create their own personal holiday cards and gifts for friends and family. More information and registration is at MIVAL.org.
Thanks as well to MIVAL and the MICC for sponsoring and providing space for arts activities that enrich our children, our youth and our community.
