We have several questions about the so-called ‘road diet.’ What does it accomplish? What is its purpose? Does the City Council just like to spend the taxpayers’ money? The Council has come up again with something costly that nobody wants. A road diet.
We would like to see a detailed map of how the ‘road diet’ would look, and a detailed plan of what it is supposed to accomplish. This should be sent to all Mercer Island citizens. So that we could all have the advantage of an understanding of what would really happen to Island Crest. Then we should have a referendum. The City Council owes this much to all of us who live on Mercer Island. It would cost something, but it might save a whole lot of money and anguish in the long run.
We no longer use West or East Mercer in good weather because those roads are owned by the bicyclists. Please don’t take away the only way we have to get to the North end!
