The Seattle area was covered with a blanket of smoke, caused by wildfires in Canada, during Seafair Weekend, but it didn’t stop the traditional activities from taking place. The hydroplanes raced and the Blue Angels flew, and people gathered on the shores of Mercer Island and the Interstate 90 bridge to observe it all.
The I-90 bridge between Mercer Island and Seattle is closed while the Blue Angels practice and perform. State troopers shut down the highway and nearby access ramps while people brought chairs, blankets and even snow cone machines to watch the show.
