A unique and popular fundraiser supporting Mercer Island School District band programs returns Oct. 28.
The fifth annual Band Together Celebration is a masquerade and adults-only event, featuring the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, wine, beer, hors d’oeuvres and dancing, as well as silent and live auctions.
The event will be held from 6-10 p.m. at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center.
Tickets are available in limited quantity for $75 per person, and the price increases to $85 after Oct. 15. For tickets, visit www.misbb.org.
The event raises money for all Island band programs, including the fifth grade instrument program and groups at Islander Middle School and Mercer Island High School.
Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra is the Northwest’s premiere big band jazz ensemble. Founded in 1995, the 17-piece band is made up of the most prominent jazz soloists and band leaders in the greater Seattle area, including Mercer Island School District’s own David Bentley.
Bentley conducts the high school jazz ensemble, several bands at IMS and is the district’s fine arts coordinator.
