Pet licenses now sold at Mercer Island Community and Event Center

Pet owners can now visit the Mercer Island Community and Event Center to purchase or renew a pet license. This service was added to improve accessibility and convenience for Mercer Island residents. Mercer Island city code requires all dogs eight weeks or older to be licensed. There are many benefits that come with a pet license:

Found pets are reunited quickly with their owner. If someone finds your lost pet, they can call the number on the license tag to receive your contact information and reunite you with your pet 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

Your licensed pet gets a free ride home. If your pet is found by an animal control officer, they can skip a trip to the animal shelter the first time.

Vacation Pet Alert. Before you travel, you can submit contact information of the person taking care of your pet for the shelter to have on file if needed.

License fees help to fund Animal Control services protecting people and pets in the Mercer Island community, as well as the care and adoption of shelter animals in the King County service area. Your pet license fee also helps the City of Mercer Island provide animal care and control services, including 24-hour emergency service seven days a week.

The Mercer Island Community and Event Center is located at 8236 SE 24th St. Pet licenses can also be purchased at QFC grocery stores in Mercer Island at 8421 SE 68th St. and 7823 SE 28th St.
