Opening night of “A Year With Frog and Toad” is Friday, Aug. 10, at Youth Theatre Northwest. Performances run through Aug. 19. Based on Arnold Lobel’s children’s book, two friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the passionate Toad, travel through four, fun-filled seasons — waking from hibernation to learn important life lessons and experience simple pleasures. As the year comes to a close, the play is about the power of friendship that teaches the most important lessons of all.
With music by Robert Reale and book/lyrics by Willie Reale, the show is directed by Youth Theatre Education Director Amanda Lee Williams, with musical direction by Heather MacLaughlin Garbes.
The show is performed at the YTN Mainstage, 8805 S.E. 40th St. Performances are at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 19.
Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for youth/seniors for the Aug. 10 Opening Night Gala, which includes an intermission dessert buffet. All other performances are $15 for adults and $13 for youth/seniors. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Box Office at (206) 232-4145, ext. 109, or online at www.youththeatre.org.
