Mercer Island Parks and the Woodland Park Zoo will present Bat Night, a gathering to explore community science, from 8-9:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 in Luther Burbank Park. Attendees will learn all about the local bat populations, and then participate in the Bat Activity Trends (BAT) project.
This community science program helps to track bat activities in parks across the region. “Be prepared to explore the park just after sunset and help make counts on these fascinating flying friends,” reads a press release. All ages are welcome, and no experience is necessary.
Attendees will meet in the Luther Burbank north parking lot, and should dress for the weather in comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle and a headlamp. Small snacks will be provided.
