This Sunday, June 9, Mercer Islanders and their four-legged friends are invited to take part in the 14th annual ‘Furry 5k Fun Run and Walk.’
The event starts at 10 a.m. at Seward Park and benefits the Seattle Animal Shelter’s Help the Animals Fund. The race will be followed by the Pet-a-Palooza, which will feature entertainment, awards and local vendors. The race is one of the few in the area that encourages racers to bring their dogs.
Each year the Seattle Animal Shelter cares for over 6,000 animals, many of whom are sick or injured and need medical care.
