King Day Parade downtown Seattle
This annual Seattle parade, presented by Commander In Chief Productions, will commence at 11 a.m. on Jan. 19. The parade begins in downtown Seattle, at 4th & Pine (Westlake Center) and ends at the Seattle Center.

King County Martin Luther King, Jr.
This celebration will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Jan. 17 at the Paramount Theatre (911 Pine St. in downtown Seattle). Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called on all people of goodwill, regardless of their views, to unite to bring about his dream of the “Beloved Community.” King County and its employees once again invite everyone to help them honor the memory of Dr. King by celebrating his work, his life and accomplishments. This year’s celebration will include performances directed by Spider Kedelsky, director of Community Programs at Town Hall Seattle.
Community Celebration honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.
Seattle Community College is hosting a program from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Mount Zion Baptist Church (1634 19th Ave, Seattle) with keynote speaker Susan L. Taylor, the editorial director of Essence Magazine; combined choirs, Black Nativity and the Total Experience Gospel Choir; poetry presentation with African-American Academy students.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Luncheon
The King County Bar Association is hosting a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the Red Lion Hotel in Seattle (1415 Fifth Ave) with keynote speaker Kathleen Neal Cleaver, Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow at Emory Law School, Senior Lecturer at Yale University, and former Communications Secretary for the Black Panther Party. A celebration of the life and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be held at 3 p.m. on Jan. 20 at the Mount Zion Baptist Church (1634 19th Ave.) in Seattle with music by Total Experience Gospel Choir, Center for Spiritual Living Choir of Light, Josephine Howell and Karma Johnson.

Landmark Speech
Join the CD Forum and the Seattle Center to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 2 p.m. on Jan. 21. The forum will include a staged reading of one of King’s most powerful and landmark speeches, “Our God is Marching On.” The event, held at the Seattle Center House (305 Harrison St.) is free and open to the public.

“If You’re Seeking Freedom,” selected readings from the writings and speeches of these two great leaders, with music by the Ananda Singers, will be held at the East West Bookshop in Seattle (6500 Roosevelt Way N.E.) at 7 p.m. on Jan. 21.

Celebration Service
All are invited to join the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue (1717 Bellevue Way N.E.) as we celebrate and honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at 7 p.m. on Jan. 21. The Mt. Calvary Christian Center and The Coalition for Community Development and Renewal is also part of the event.
