Residents with broken lights from their holiday decorations can drop them off from Jan. 3-12 during the city-hosted free light strand recycling program in partnership with Recology. Islanders can drive up to the city hall building and drop off the broken strands in carts placed out front.
If residents aren’t able to stop by during this time, they can recycle light strands at Recology’s Issaquah, Burien or Bothell stores for $1.50 per strand. For addresses, visit: https://www.recology.com/store/
In the Christmas tree realm, Recology will collect natural, undecorated and unflocked trees in 4-foot lengths from customers who subscribe to curbside compost collection (at no additional charge). Special arrangements aren’t necessary; customers can put their trees curbside on their regular compost collection day.
